> Student Demonstrator, University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland (September 2009 - May 2011)
In this role, I assisted lecturers in class, helping students to grasp learning outcomes associated with their course by explaining concepts and demonstrating examples. Whilst performing this role I helped in the teaching of a number of subjects including XML & the mobile Internet, database fundamentals, web standards, beginners HTML/CSS and introductory Perl programming.
> Assistant Web Developer, University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland (July 2010 - September 2010)
In summer 2010, I gained a temporary contract, developing reports to be used as part of a Research Grants Database project. In this role, I had to plan and develop a series of complex reports, based on information selected from an Oracle database. During the planning phase, I conducted a number of meetings with both the Research Development Manager and the Management Accountant, ascertaining their needs. Following this, I used a combination of HTML, CSS and ColdFusion in conjunction with the Oracle database to display the relevant information.

In 2008, I began work as a freelance web designer, occassionally working with other local freelancers. I specialise in using XHTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL to develop dynamic websites. Examples of work I have completed, along with a description can be found in the websites section of the portfolio page.
> Student Representative, University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland (November 2006 - January 2011)
I was the BSc Computing class representative for 3 consecutive years. The role involved listening to fellow student and gaining their perspectives on the course e.g. areas that needed to be improved. After gathering their thoughts, it was my responsibility to attend biannual course meetings to voice these opinions. I continued this role whilst enrolled on the MSc Internet Computing course.
> Student Ambassador, University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland (June 2006 - May 2009)
I previously held a position as a Student Ambassador at the University of Abertay, Dundee. The main duties of this role involved greeting prospective students at Open Days, showing them around and discussing concerns with them. Working with visitors in this role gave me the opportunity to develop my listening and communication skills.
> Information Advisor, Journeycall, Laurencekirk, Scotland (seasonal work)
I worked at Journeycall, Laurencekirk as an Information Advisor for 4 consecutive summers (2005-2008) and Christmas 2006. The main duties of the job entailed working with customers over the phone, and dealing with their travel queries. Working in this role allowed me to become proficient in searching for information. In dealing with a customer query, I had to learn to efficiently browse through a wide variety of data sources, in order to give them the correct information (e.g. train and bus times).
