I'm awaiting to graduate from the MSc Internet Computing (Software Engineering) course with a distinction in July 2011
My dissertation was entitled "Determining Identity on Mobile Phones Using Keystroke Analysis". During the project, I developed a mobile phone application in Java which allowed me to capture the keystrokes of participants entering a preset password. Participants had to enter data a number of times to "train" the system and these keystroke were stored in a database. When a participant made another attempt at entering data, a webservice analysed the "training" data and computed acceptable minimum and maximum thresholds.
If further attempts at entering keystroke data fell within the acceptable parameters, it was determined that the correct person was entering information. If the the attempt didn't match previous information entered by a participant, the system determined that a fraudulent person was using the system.
Other subjects studied throughout the course of the MSc include-
- Mobile Applications
- Computer Networking
- Enterprise Software Development (Java)
- Internet Development
- Internet Security
- Contemporary Database Topics
> BSc Computing (Hons), University of Abertay, Dundee (2005-2009)
I graduated from the BSc Computing (Hons) course with a 2:1 in July 2009
My 4th year dissertation was entitled "Wiimote Interactive Gallery". The project involved implementing methods outlined by Johnny Lee to create an interactive whiteboard using a Wiimote and an IR pen. Following this, I developed a photo gallery application in VB.NET, which could be used with the whiteboard, thus creating an interactive gallery.
Other subjects studied during the course of the degree include-
- Object Oriented Programming
- Database Programming
- Software Execution
- Software Engineering Issues
- Internet Development
- Group Project
- XML and the Mobile Internet
I had the opportunity to develop my skills in a number of languages and technologies throughout the course including Java, VB.NET, PHP, ColdFusion, Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL 2005, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
